If you've been searching for go-kart racing in San Antonio and coming up empty, there's a real reason: the San Antonio Karting Complex closed in January 2026. It was one of the city's go-to indoor karting spots, and its closure left a real gap for anyone looking to race.
281 Country Club — an outdoor alternative
281 Country Club is now one of the top go-kart rental destinations in the San Antonio area. It's a different experience than the Karting Complex was — real outdoor terrain on 45 acres instead of a paved indoor track — but it's a genuine option for anyone still looking to race in the city.
Electric or gas — both available
Both electric and gas go-karts are available. Electric karts run quieter and are more eco-friendly; gas karts give the more traditional go-kart feel and sound. Either way, you're racing on real outdoor ground, not asphalt.
Who can ride
Age and fit rules depend on the kart, and anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian on site. Both kid-sized and adult-sized go-karts are available, so a mixed-age family or group can all ride together.
Combine it with other rides
If your group has a mix of ages or interests, go-karts work well alongside a UTV rental for the adults — kids on go-karts, adults on UTVs, same visit.
